Fishy Photos

Photos from the 7/12/06 RTB Fun Day trip to the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. As always, click on the pics to see larger views. (Note: In many cases, I was trying to shoot through glass, which made focusing difficult.)

A lighthouse visible across the harbor from the Aquarium:

The Queen Mary, luxury hotel/museum/tourist trap.

A dolphin statue just outside the Aquarium.

At last: the Aquarium Itself!

Upone entering the Aquarium, visitors are greeted by this:
Aww, the statue has a baby!

This rather large fishtank is located at one end of the lobby.

A giant sea bass, one of the residents of the Big Ol' Tank.

The "Tropical Lagoon" (their name, not mine.)

No, nobody lost a doily in the tanks. That's a fish. A very strange, lacy red fish.

A puffer fish.

I nicknamed this tank the "Potential Stars of Finding Nemo 2."

A leafy sea dragon. Which may or may not be the result of crossbreeding sea horses with seaweed (naturalistic evolutionists are very confused).

One of my favorites: the parrotfish. The second picture is of the same fish; it looks a little different because I used a flash.

A lionfish.

A few sharks.

Sea lions.

Various rays.

Several tiny creatures called "blue jellies."

They're popular, playful, they're furry, and they're almost unbearably cute: the sea otters.
A newt, or a peasant that didn't "get better"?

Cute, tiny, and deadly: a poison dart frog.

A sea turtle.

This pigeon was surveying the crowd in front of the sea-lion area as though it were a monarch.

My longtime favorite sea birds: the puffins.

The last exhibit we went through was the aviary, where we walked among a veritable throng of beautiful birds called lorikeets.
